Mary “Emily” Mora Harrison
Mary “Emily” Mora Harrison, 101, of Tull, passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2026. She was born on January 26, 1925 to Jose and Martha Mora. Emily was born and raised in Perris, California where she graduated from Perris High School. After graduation she moved to San Diego with her sisters and friends. During World War II she was employed as a “Rosie the Riveter” at the Consolidated Defense Plant, working on B-24 Bombers. It was at that time that she met her handsome sailor – Robert “Bob” Harrison – at Rainbow Beach. This was the beginning of a lifetime of love together until he passed away in January of 2000.
They began their family in Bell Gardens, CA raising six children plus one bonus son (a nephew). They always had open arms to anyone in need of a refuge.
In 1967, their dream of moving to Bob’s hometown of Tull to raise their family came true. It was then that they joined Saline Missionary Baptist Church, where Emily was a member for 59 years. She loved her church and was active in the Choir and Ladies’ Auxiliary.
Emily stayed home raising seven children before returning to the workforce at Sunrise of Arkansas, at an age when most would be considering retirement. She loved working in her yard, mowing the grass and keeping her flower beds looking pristine. Bob and Emily enjoyed fishing and sitting on the patio listening to the katydids and whippoorwills. As their family began to grow and expand, they enjoyed many gatherings at their home.
Emily was preceded in death by the love of her life Bob Harrison; as well as her parents, her sisters: Sally, Lucy, and Angie, and a half-brother Johnny Boy.
She is survived by her children: Terry Harrison (Katherine), Diana Lounsbury (Doug), Betty Carson (Danny), Rita McDade (Troy), Johnny Harrison (Cathy), Lisa Tull (Bryan), and Dean Harrison. Grandchildren: Quinn McCormick, Emilia Bessire, Jeremy McDade, Joshua Harrison, Jason Carson, Amber Carson, Jerred McDade, Megan Adams, Shelby Sorrells, Jordan Harrison, Christopher Lounsbury, and their spouses, and 24 great grandchildren; as well as a host of extended family, relatives, and friends.
To the wonderful “family” of caregivers from Divine Healthcare and Elite Hospice, our family is forever grateful for your love and dedication to our Mom/Grandma.
Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, June 7 at Saline Missionary Baptist Church in Tull.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, June 8 at Saline Missionary Baptist Church in Tull with burial to follow at Ebenezer Cemetery. Bro. Kim Hammer will be officiating.
