The Saline County Public Works and Safety Committee and the Finance Committee will meet on Tuesday, Sept. 8, to review a proposed bridge replacement and multiple budget amendments. The meeting will take place at 6 p.m. in Courtroom #3 at the Saline County Courthouse. Read more below.
A key item on the Public Works and Safety Committee agenda is a resolution to utilize federal-aid monies to replace the Williams Creek Bridge on Quapaw Road.
The resolution requests funding from the Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT), which would cover 90% of the costs for a feasibility study and the bridge replacement phase, requiring a 10% local share.
Following that, the Finance Committee will review an ordinance to appropriate a $500 election reimbursement stipend received from the State Board of Election Commissioners. The funds are intended to provide a supplemental bonus for election workers who served during the primary election and runoff.
Additionally, the Finance Committee will consider an ordinance amending the 2026 Saline County Budget for various departments. Proposed financial adjustments include:
- transferring nearly $597,000 within the County Road Fund and
- appropriating over $159,000 in anticipated revenues to the Election Department budget.
The amendment also designates $27,000 for Sheriff’s Department maintenance and service contracts.
The joint committee meeting is open to the public. Doors will open at 5:45 p.m., and attendees are instructed to use the ADA-accessible Market Street entrance to enter the courthouse.
