David Gibbs
David Gibbs, affectionately known as “Coach,” passed away on April 21, 2026, leaving behind a legacy defined by kindness and an unwavering commitment to those he loved. Born on February 2, 1948, in Bakersfield, California, David’s life was marked by a profound devotion to his country and family.
David served his nation with valor as a staff sergeant in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. His bravery during combat earned him the distinguished Purple Heart as well as the Army Commendation Medal For Heroism.
After his military service, David obtained a Bachelor of Science in Education from Henderson State University. His career as teacher and coach spanned more than three decades, culminating in his retirement from Bauxite School District.
Throughout his life he never met a stranger, always greeting each person with a kind heart and a sense of humor that bridged generations. Compassion defined him throughout his career and his service to the Lord. He was a proud member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Benton.
But…..family was the core of David’s world. His heart belonged especially to his grandchildren, who knew him as “Grandpa David.” He is survived by his devoted wife, Maggie Herrick-Gibbs; his sons Charley and Robert Gibbs; bonus sons Zachary (Jamie) Herrick and Robbie Herrick; an adored daughter-in-law Veronica, and his cherished grandchildren Natalia Gibbs, Anthony Gibbs and Alessia Gibbs, Francesca Gibbs, Natalie Herrick, Aria Herrick, and Holden Herrick. David is also survived by his sister Susan Smith, niece Brittany, and nephew Graham. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Earl Gibbs and Charlene Graham.
Among the fondest memories he carried were those of his Uncle Jerry Abston, his companion and mentor during childhood. David’s roots lie in Duncan, Oklahoma, where he grew up a devoted fan of Boomer Sooner. Upon settling in Arkansas, he expanded his loyalty to the Razorbacks.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Encore Heart Hospital in Bryant, Arkansas, for the compassionate care shown to David.
The community will gather to honor David’s memory with a Rosary on Monday, April 27, 2026, from 5:00 to 5:30 p.m. at Smith Benton Funeral Home, 322 N Market Street, Benton, AR 72015. This will be followed by visitation from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. Mass will be celebrated on April 28, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 900 W Cross St, Benton, AR 72015. Burial with military honors will follow at New Rosemont Cemetery, 1010 Military Rd., Benton, AR 72015, beginning at 2:45 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in the form of donations may be made to the Arkansas FoodBank.
David Gibbs leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and dedication that will continue to inspire all who knew him. He will be remembered fondly as a remarkable teacher, a valiant veteran, a compassionate soul, and above all, a devoted family man whose spirit lives on in the hearts of so many.
Lawrence David Baltz “Larry”
Lawrence David Baltz “Larry”, age 74, passed away on April 23, 2026. He was born on June 16, 1951 in Pocahontas, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Genievieve Baltz; brothers, Aloysius “Al” Baltz and Ralph Baltz; and sisters Judy Randall and Henrietta Sigmund. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Debbie Dian Baltz; and his son, Benjamin M. Baltz.
Larry retired from ABF trucking after putting over 3 million miles on the road pulling double trailers. Larry to his dying day loved to garden from beautiful flowers to vegetables. At both his last living facilities he loved making flower arrangements and sharing his vegetables with others. He also loved to watch his Andy Griffith and his westerns.
Larry is survived by his two sons Jason L. Baltz (Candace) and Christopher K. Baltz; brothers David Baltz (Jean), Mitch Baltz (Teresa); sister, Ruth McKillip; grandchildren: Matthias Baltz, Ava Baltz, Brooklyn Baltz, Benjamin Baltz, and Vale Baltz; and a host of other nieces, nephews, and family members.
Visitation service will be held at Smith-Benton Funeral Home, 322 N. Market Street in Benton, Arkansas on Wednesday, April 29, from 10:00 AM to Noon. The family will have a private burial at Rosemont Cemetery in Benton, Arkansas.
The family would like to thank all of those who have cared for him; Foxridge of Bryant, Friends at Chenal Pines, Arkansas Heart Hospital, Natalie Cobb, APRN of St. Vincent WLR, Carti, Baptist Home Health, Hospice Home Care, and Brookdale Chenal Heights.

Gracie Faye Roark
Gracie Faye Roark, 86, of Poyen, Arkansas, passed away on Monday, April 20, 2026. She was born to the late George and Ina Williams on Wednesday, April 17, 1940, in Malvern, Arkansas.
Gracie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She found joy in the simple things in life. She loved to cook and was known for making delicious pies. Gracie enjoyed singing specials at church on a weekly basis. Being outdoors also brought her peace, especially tending to her flowers.
She married the love of his life, Jon Harrison Roark, in 1959, and together they built a life centered on love, faith, and family. They were blessed with five children.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jon Roark, her daughter, Lucinda Hurley; her parents, George and Ina Williams; and her brother, J.L. Williams.
Gracie is survived by her children, Tim Roark, Paul Roark, Mitchell Roark, and Julie Ray; her grandchildren, Leah Snider, Devin Roark, Dade Roark, Austin Ray, and Sophie Ray; and her great-grandchildren, Wren, Ensley, Sam, Noah, Sarah, Emma, Katie, Adlee, and Vivian.
Gracie was a homemaker and will be remembered for taking care of her home and children. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, May 8, 2026 at 10:00 A.M. at Dial and Dudley Funeral Home.
