Guy Gifford Standridge
Guy Gifford Standridge, 71, of Lonsdale, Arkansas, passed away October 1, 2026. He was born January 11, 1955, in Little Rock, Arkansas, to the late Harold Lloyd and Hazel LaVerne (Wilson) Standridge.
Guy was a hardworking man who spent many years hauling gas for CAP in Malvern and Thomas Oil. After retiring, Guy quickly discovered that retirement wasn’t quite for him and went to work for the Saline County Road Department. It didn’t take long for him to form a special bond with the men he worked alongside. Many were much younger than Guy, but age never stood in the way of friendship. They respected him, looked up to him, and valued the wisdom and experience he was always willing to share.
Guy served the Lord, and the story of how he came to know Him was perfectly fitting for a man who loved the outdoors. While coon hunting one evening with the preacher from Bethel Baptist Church, the two began talking about the Lord. Right there in the woods, Guy realized his need for salvation. He learned that he didn’t have to be inside a church building or standing at an altar—he could give his heart to the Lord right there among the trees in a place he loved. And that is exactly what he did.
An avid outdoorsman, Guy was happiest when he was outside. He loved spending time on the family houseboat at Brady Mountain, fishing, and hunting hogs, deer, and coons. He was also a devoted Arkansas Razorback fan, although his love for his girls could even persuade him to temporarily change team colors.
Guy was the ultimate “girl dad.” He faithfully supported his daughters through softball, basketball, cheerleading, shopping, and whatever else was important to them. When his daughter Alisha coached the LSUS women’s basketball team, this die-hard Razorback fan proudly put on LSU colors and a ball cap to support his girl. That was Guy—when it came to his family, there was nothing he wouldn’t do.
Perhaps Guy could best be described with the words, “He may have had hard hands, but he had a gentle touch.” Those hands reflected a lifetime of hard work, but they also belonged to a man with a tender heart. He loved deeply, worked hard, supported his family faithfully, and always put those he loved first. His greatest treasures were not found in the woods, on the water, or even during a Razorback victory—they were found in the people he called family.
Guy was preceded in death by his parents, Harold Lloyd and Hazel LaVerne (Wilson) Standridge; his special grandfather, Elisha Standridge; and brothers, Lloyd Don Standridge and Harold Wayne Standridge.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 46 years, Jennie Lynn Standridge; daughters, Jaimie Gentry and husband Brad, Brittany Chrestman and husband Erik, and Alisha Standridge; grandchildren, Jordan Gentry, Emily Gentry, Seth Chrestman and wife Kailei, Cooper Guenard, Lily Carden, Tanner Guenard, Sylvia Carden, Aubrey Chrestman, Griffin Guenard, and Eliza Standridge; sister, Dixie Pedigo and husband Jeff; and many extended family members, coworkers, hunting buddies, and friends who loved Guy and will miss him always.
Visitation will be held Thursday, October 8, 2026, from 5:00–7:00 p.m. at Smith-Benton Funeral Home, 322 N. Market Street, Benton, Arkansas.
