By Carl S. of Saline County
To the Editor:
I’ve been following our local descent into madness also known as the Sheriff’s race and what I saw on Friday was the lowest of the low. We had a citizen who is also a candidate’s brother-in-law take to Facebook to share his “research” into another candidate, Richard Friend.
Read more below.
I thought this was initially a misunderstanding of the legal process but by the close of the day, it became obvious this was a deliberate misstatement of the facts designed to damage the Friend campaign. Furthermore, once it was shown that he’d deliberately left out certain documents that repudiated the facts he was stating, he doubled down on his statements.
Worst of all, this was shared by several prominent politicians in Saline County and as of this letter, none of them have issued a retraction. This is the kind of leadership we’ve condoned, and this is the kind of leadership that I refuse to support.
I call on Dustin Robertson to condemn the actions of his brother-in-law publicly and for all other politicians who signed on in support of this farce to publicly retract their approval.
– Carl
Editor’s note:
We can deduce from the description of the subject as “candidate’s brother-in-law” that they are referring to Charles R. Cross, who also recently submitted a Letter to the Editor regarding Richard Friend, candidate for Saline County Sheriff.
