The Saline County Library in Benton is hosting a unique, hands-on workshop designed to help dads, grandfathers, and male caregivers master the basics of styling hair. Read more below.

The upcoming “Braids and Bonds” event will feature a professional stylist teaching essential techniques, offering a chance for caregivers and children to bond while learning practical daily skills.

This FREE community event, titled “Braids and Bonds: Hair Basics for Dads & Caregivers,” is scheduled to take place from 10 – 11 a.m. at the library’s Benton location at 1800 Smithers Drive. The workshop is tailored specifically for dads, uncles, grandfathers, and other male role models who want to learn how to manage their children’s hair but may not know where to begin.

During the one-hour session, a trained professional stylist will guide participants through fundamental hair care techniques in a fun and relaxed environment. Attendees will learn how to brush hair without causing tears, identify the best styling tools to use, and practice simple, everyday looks such as ponytails and basic braids. Organizers emphasize that absolutely no previous styling experience is required to attend.

Caregivers are highly encouraged to bring the children in their lives to the workshop so they can practice the techniques together. The class aims to build confidence, teach a new skill, and provide a memorable quality-time experience for families, equipping attendees with hair-styling skills they can use the very next morning.
