Pursuant to Arkansas Code Annotated § 12-75-103, Saline County is entitled to aid, relief, and emergency assistance under this Disaster Emergency. This designation enables the County to request and deploy additional resources as necessary to protect life, property, and public safety.
Despite continuous efforts by Saline County Road Department crews, first responders, and utility crews, road conditions throughout Saline County remain extremely dangerous. Freezing temperatures combined with snow, sleet, and freezing rain have created hazardous travel conditions on both primary and secondary roadways. These teams are working under extremely challenging conditions to respond to emergencies, restore services, and improve road safety; however, travel remains unsafe.
Residents are strongly urged to STAY OFF the roads and REMAIN AT HOME unless travel is absolutely necessary. Reducing travel helps ensure the safety of motorists, first responders, and road crews who are actively working to address conditions.
Saline County will continue to monitor weather and road conditions closely and will provide updates as conditions evolve. The Disaster Emergency is attached.
The Saline County Community Warming Center remains open, currently providing shelter for approximately 30 individuals. The warming center will remain operational for the duration of subfreezing temperatures to ensure the safety of vulnerable residents.
Additionally, all Saline County offices are closed until further notice due to inclement weather, including tomorrow, to ensure the safety of county employees and the public.
