A new restaurant is open in the Bauxite Depot shopping center at 7076 Bauxite Hwy (Arkansas Hwy 183). They bring a favorite food – pizza – to the growing community.
Brothers John and David Pettit opened Railway Pizza in Bauxite at the very left end of The Bauxite Depot. David told MySaline that the restaurant was aiming for an April opening and Monday is the day it ended up being. We visited on Saturday during the shopping center’s farmers market. They were doing a trial run in the kitchen by selling pizza slices to the crowd.
Railway Pizza released their menu last week. They’ll serve hand-tossed pizza, salads, and subs. Here’s a copy of the menu:
The property once served as a train depot for the Rock Island Railroad, making the railroad-themed name a fitting tribute to the site’s past.
The Bauxite Depot shopping center is also right in the path of the upcoming Southwest Trail. Segment 6 of the biking trail runs along Edison Avenue/ Arkansas Hwy 183.

Above – This map, from Garver Engineering, shows the path of the Southwest Trail coming right in front of Bauxite Depot.
The Pettit brothers say they are excited to bring their restaurant to Bauxite and look forward to serving the community while contributing to the city’s local economy.

The restaurant has a large mural of the name on the wall inside, in graffiti style like you’d see on the side of a railroad freight car.
While you’re visiting for pizza, you can check out the many other businesses noted in our recent social media posts – Rock Island General Store, The Blue Hole Market & Creamery, Blissful Bakery & More, Roach Collective Photography, Ingle Law Firm, 151 Collectables and Game Lounge, Cattle K Photo LLC, Rochell Real Estate Group, Southern Glo Tanning, and MDE Medical Evaluations.
