County officials will consider giving an unused vehicle to another agency on Monday night. There are also some budget items to be considered. The Coroner’s vehicle needed a repair; the Sheriff’s Office purchased a new vehicle, trading in others; and the Sheriff’s Office is purchasing a Rapid DNA System and training. Finally, there’s an item to increase an employee’s pay retroactively, due to their level of experience.

Increase new hire in the Felony Case Coordinator position in the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office to the budgeted amount of $38,268 and retro pay that rate back to the employee’s starting date due to the added value brought to this position from the years of experience. No budget change is needed.

MINUTES FEBRUARY 24, 2025 (Originally scheduled for 2/18/2025)
The Saline County Quorum Court met on Monday, February 24, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. in Courtroom #3 at the Saline County Courthouse. County Judge Matt Brumley called the meeting to order. Justice of the Peace Jim Whitley gave the invocation and Justice of the Peace Keith Kellum led the Pledge of Allegiance. Roll call taken with 11 members present. Rick Bellinger and C. J. Engel were not in attendance.
Motion by Carlton Billingsley and seconded by Jim Whitley to approve the Minutes from the January 21, 2025 Quorum Court Meeting. Motion passed unanimously by voice vote.
NEW BUSINESS: Motion by Karen Crowson and seconded by Wilson Hatcher to suspend the rules and read title only of Exhibit “A”. Motion passed unanimously. Exhibit “A”: Motion by Josh Curtis and seconded by Jim Whitley to approve Appropriation Ordinance to amend the 2024 Saline County Budget Ordinance No. 2023-30 (as amended). Roll call vote; motion passed unanimously. Ordinance 2025-3.
ANNOUNCEMENTS: Judge Brumley announced that Darren Robinson has been hired for our Public Works Department and that today was his first day and was very productive. He also commended our Road Department for their hard work during the latest winter storm; along with the Office of Emergency Management, and the Sheriff’s Department. He went on to say that the warming center has been opened a total of three times so far this winter and he thanked all those who have helped in this endeavor. Clint Chism also thanked the Road Department for all of their work.
