Elsie Lynn Chaney
Elsie Lynn Chaney, age 80, of Benton; passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2026. She was born August 4, 1945 in Flint, Michigan. Elsie graduated from Huron High School in Ohio and went on to attend Draughon School of Business. She went to Real Estate School and a few years later was named the Realtor of the Year; she eventually got her Brokers License. Later on, Elsie worked several years for Landers Auto.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Wallace and Jean Hamp; husband, Donald Mac Chaney; brother, Clarence Hamp; and a sister, Mildred Mitchell.
Elsie is survived by her daughter, Tracy Ward (David); son, Donald Mac “Bo” Chaney II (Courtney); brother, Tony Hamp (Connie); two sisters, Sharon Givens and Cookie Burks; sister-in-law, Diane Carden; four grandchildren, Hannah Hughes (Tucker), Ashley Balderas (Marco), Donald “Mac” Chaney III, and Evlyn Chaney; great-grandson, Jett Hughes; close family friends, Jason Carson and Steve Tracy; her favorite dog, Sunny; and several nieces & nephews.
Elsie could be found outside reading her favorite book with her four-legged friend, Sunny. She loved Razorback Baseball and traveled to Fayetteville often to watch games with her son Bo and his family. In addition to reading, enjoying a sunny day, and Razorback Baseball; she loved the beach and vacations with her family as well as watching her grandchildren’s athletic activities.
Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday, April 16 at Ashby Funeral Home.
A Celebration of Elsie’s Life will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 17 at Ashby Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Old Rosemont Cemetery.
