Mary Kathleen Bowie Steelman, age 69, of Benton, died January 21, 2026. She was born August 29, 1956 in Conway, Arkansas.
We called her Kathy, but Mary Kathleen answered to many titles: Mom, Mimi, Sister, Daughter, Aunt Kathy, Best Friend, and proudly as Crazy Cat Lady.
She was loved deeply and was deeply loved in return, and we were lucky enough to be among those she held close.
Kathy was a superior student and graduated with honors from Oak Grove High School in 1974, went on to a long and successful career in the financial industry. Through her work, she was fortunate to travel and see much of this great county.
Her greatest achievement, however, was raising her son, Jeff. He was her only child, and they were best friends throughout his entire life. She loved her two grandsons beyond measure.
Kathy will be sorely missed, but we take comfort in knowing she has gone on to a better place, and that one day we will meet her there.
She was preceded in death by her parents Thomas “TJ” and Mary Ellen Bowie. Kathy is survived by her son, Jeffrey Allen Bowie, his wife Amy Bowie, her two grandsons Boston and Weston Bowie; two brothers Thomas Lynn and his wife Debbie Bowie, and Christopher Gordon and his wife Lois Bowie; one sister, Sandra Gail and her husband Steve Burris. She is also lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews; Christie, Amie, Stephany, Robin, Sarah, Dustin, and Ashley as well as many other extended family members and dear friends.
Her brother Chris said it best “Kathy has graduated to the place we were created for. It is like a birthday for her. We will all cross this threshold one day. Let us rejoice, for her trail time has ended.
We love you Kathy. Now you can watch over all of us who still have to make this journey.
A Celebration of Kathy’s Life will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday January 31st at Living Way Foursquare Church @ 2217 Cottondale Lane in Little Rock, AR 72202.
