A unique gathering place in downtown Benton is turning the page.
Main St. Station, a food truck court located at the northeast corner of 303 N Main Street at Conway Street, officially opened on July 14, 2017, breathing new life into a historic filling station originally built in 1938.
The space quickly became a hub for food, music, markets, and community connection.

Main St Station held a grand opening on July 14, 2017 and ribbon cutting with the Benton Area Chamber of Commerce.

Among the first businesses to call Main St. Station home was Lokal Koffee Roasters (previously Koffee with a Kause), which launched its second location there as a food trailer, before moving on to a stationery business in a small cottage on Ashley Street. Other food trucks, including Po Boys Po Boys which had the owner morph into Crissy’s Pub Style, Just Ice Cream which became Loblolly on Market Street, Fire Dancer BBQ which became an award winning competition barbecue band, Rina’s Kitchen which upgraded to a huge food truck and eventually moved to South Street and Olive Street, across from West Side Pharmacy, and more rotated through the space, helping create a lively lineup.
In a farewell post on its Facebook page, Main St. Station reflected on its journey, describing the project as one that grew from a simple idea into a gathering space that supported small local businesses and contributed to the rejuvenation of downtown Benton.
While Main St. Station is closing this chapter, the property has been passed on to new owners who say they are excited to continue investing in downtown Benton and serving the community.
Those behind the project say they’re proud of what was built and look forward to seeing what comes next for the historic site.
The business also shared photos highlighting memories from the space, including a historic image of the original station courtesy of the Saline County History & Heritage Facebook Group.
They don’t currently have a statement about exactly what they’ll do with the property, but we do know it will be something community-oriented. We’ll keep you updated.
