A new nonprofit organization, Forward Hope, is stepping up to address a critical gap in support for at-risk youth in our community. Founded by Saline County resident and youth advocate Lance, Forward Hope is dedicated to mentoring, educating, and equipping young people ages 16–24 who are aging out of foster care, group homes, or facing instability at home.
“Too many young people are being forgotten the moment they turn 18,” said Lance. “Forward Hope is here to change that. We exist to stand in the gap—offering mentorship, life skills, and real-world support to help them build stable, successful futures.”
Although Forward Hope is still awaiting the completion of its permanent office space, the organization is actively mentoring youth and laying the groundwork for future programs. Early efforts include mobile mentorship meetups, life skills curriculum development, and emergency support for youth in crisis.

The organization’s vision is to reduce long-term risks like incarceration, homelessness, and substance abuse by intervening with education, advocacy, and positive role models during the most critical transition years of life.
Forward Hope is currently launching its 2026 fundraising campaign, and community support is essential. Donations will help cover transportation to meet with youth, curriculum printing, emergency housing assistance, and the expansion of vital mentorship programs.
“Whether it’s $5 or $500, every gift matters,” said Lance. “This is how we build something that lasts—for youth who deserve more than the system has given them.”
