As summer temperatures continue to climb, the City of Bryant is providing a safe haven for residents to escape the extreme heat. The Bishop Center lobby has been designated as a public cooling center, offering a place for community members to rest and hydrate during peak heat hours. Read more below.
Located at 6401 Boone Road in Bryant, the Bishop Center lobby is available to anyone needing a break from the outdoors during its normal operating hours. The facility is open Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Sundays from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
In addition to providing a cool space, city officials are urging residents to take necessary precautions during the current heatwave. Recommendations include staying well-hydrated, avoiding prolonged outdoor activities during the hottest parts of the day, and proactively checking on neighbors, elderly residents, and others who may be particularly vulnerable to heat-related illnesses.
Anyone in need of a cool place to rest is welcome to stop by during the center’s regular hours of operation.
