The Benton Civil Service Commission will convene on Sept. 14 to consider scheduling a trial for a recently terminated police officer, as well as filling open commissioner seats.

A notable item of new business on the agenda is a request from Officer Sean Stroud, who is seeking a trial before the commission, regarding his termination from the Benton Police Department. Commissioners are expected to officially schedule a date for Stroud’s trial during the session.

Members are also set to interview and select candidates for open commissioner positions and will choose a member to serve as the commission’s new chair.

The agenda also includes addressing matters related to the Fire Department, though specific details were not outlined. For old business, the commission plans to review updates to the Benton Civil Service Commission handbook.
