☕First let’s talk about Scooter’s Coffee. They purchased land at the intersection of Highway 5 North and Alcoa Road, then built and opened a drive-thru restaurant in October 2023.
A little history: If you’ve lived in this community for a few years, you might remember this property as a former recreational campground, with a Yogi Bear theme.

- The reverse side of the postcard calls it Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park Camp-Resort. It lists the following amenities: “Full hook-ups, shady sites, evening movies, planned activities, heated pool, store lounge, laundry, mini golf, hiking, rec. building, horseback, ceramic tile baths.” Find the card at THIS LINK.
Meanwhile, property owners to their west side (closer to Sonic Drive-in) sold to a bank that is going to build. According to this Scooter’s location owners, Shawn and Heather Lamontia, the bank offered to also purchase their property at 1921 Highway 5 North, and they accepted the offer.
“Being part of the Benton community has meant so much to us,” the owners stated via social media. “We’ve loved serving your morning coffees, seeing your familiar faces, and building relationships over the years. While it’s bittersweet to close this location, we’re excited to share that we are relocating and continuing to grow.”
The Benton location closed as of September 15, 2025, but there is still a location in Bryant.
“We want to clarify that we sold the property, not the business. Scooter’s Coffee will remain active in Saline County at our Bryant location, 1816 North Reynolds Rd. In the future, First Service Bank will be building their new branch at our former Benton site.”
The owners say no one is losing their job, “The best part is you’ll still see the same friendly baristas you know and love, our entire team is moving over with us to Bryant to continue serving you!”
🐩 And now, about the groomer… Scrub-a-Dub Dog Grooming has been in business for a nearly three years at 709 W. South Street (at N. Martin St.)
They decided it’s time to grow. The owners, Quinton and Taylor Edmond started Scrub-a-Dub on November 15, 2022. If construction goes as planned, they may celebrate their business anniversary in the new building just a block over, at 619 W South Street. (at N. Olive St.)
They’ll have extra room at the new location. It’s double in size. Taylor says they plan to extend their hours and get new equipment.
