Saline County, AR — Myka Bono Sample proudly announces her candidacy for re-election as Saline County Circuit Clerk & Recorder in the upcoming 2026 election. A lifelong resident of Saline County, Sample made history in 2014 as the first woman elected to this role.
With a career dedicated to public service, Sample previously served five years as Deputy Clerk for Saline County, five years as Office Manager for the Benton County Circuit Clerk, and four years as a juvenile probation officer in Saline County.
“It’s an incredible honor to serve as the record keeper for Saline County’s judicial and land records,” said Sample. “I take this responsibility seriously and remain committed to upholding transparency, security, and efficiency for our citizens.”
Beyond real estate records, the office also serves as the official record keeper for military discharge papers (DD-214s). These records are confidentially and securely recorded at no cost, providing a critical service to veterans and their families should they ever need access for benefits, identification, or historical purposes.
Currently serving as the 1st Vice President of the Arkansas Circuit Clerks Association, Sample also sits on the Legislative, Budget, and Program Committees, and is in her third term on the Electronic Recording Commission—appointed by Governor Sarah Sanders. She is a certified Court Manager through the Administrative Office of the Courts and the first Saline County Circuit Clerk to complete the NACo High Performance Leadership Program. She was also appointed to Arkansas’s first Strategic Planning Committee by former Chief Justice Dan Kemp.
Sample played a key role in helping pass Arkansas’s first-ever Property Fraud Protection law, Act 725, during this year’s legislative session. “Property fraud is a growing threat, and I’m passionate about protecting our citizens from it,” Sample said. “Our free property fraud alert program is a major step forward, and I will continue fighting to expand these protections in the next legislative session.”
Since taking office in 2015, Sample has also transformed services to benefit the county directly. By becoming a certified passport acceptance facility, her office has returned over $250,000 in fees to the county’s general fund. She has also worked to digitize historic court and real estate records, providing easier access for citizens, title companies, and financial institutions.
In her ongoing efforts to make legal resources more accessible, Sample added a public-use kiosk to the Circuit Clerk’s office, allowing citizens to search for court forms and access valuable legal information provided by Legal Aid of Arkansas.
“I love serving the people of Saline County,” Sample added. “Whether it’s helping citizens here at home or advocating for them across the state, I’m committed to continuing this work with integrity, passion, and pride. I respectfully ask for your vote in the 2026 election.”
Myka Bono Sample has been married to Billy Sample for 37 years. They have three sons—Matt, Aaron (Melissa), and Briar (Rachel)—and are proud grandparents to Maverick, Rowan, Raelynn, Sutton, Vivian, and bonus granddaughter Elize. She is the daughter of the late Jiggs and Judy Bono and the daughter-in-law of Jackie (Dennis) and the late Truman Sample. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and playing basketball on Arkansas’s Senior Olympics team. Sample is also a member of Saline Missionary Baptist Church, Bauxite Sports Hall of Fame and Arkansas Softball Hall of Fame.
