Below are the in-person and virtual programs taking place at the Saline County Library for this week. There is something for all ages, and different categories of activities, like fitness, games, language, crafts, stories, clubs, and of course a New Year celebration this time! Read more below:

Adult Programs

Chair Yoga- Group 1

Monday, May 11: 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM

Kick off your week with a Mindful Monday Chair Yoga session. Come as you are and enjoy a low-impact, low-stress, and accessible workout. No equipment needed. No prior experience needed.

East End Elevenses

Try out a little bit of everything with East End Elevenses! Each week will be a different activity for adults and will include a book club, yoga, crafts and recipe swaps!

Who-Dun-It Book Club

Join East End’s whodunnit book club for a fun, interactive four-week journey! Each month, the club kicks off with an intro and chapter plan for this month’s book, and then we dive deeper each week with discussions, theories, and your best guesses at solving the crime. In the final week, we’ll reveal WHO-DUN-IT, celebrate winners with prizes, and unveil next month’s mystery.

Line Dancing

Put on your dancing shoes and join us for Line Dancing at the Benton Library! This fun, energetic class is open to adults ages 18 and up. All skill levels are welcome—whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned dancer, you’ll learn easy-to-follow steps and enjoy great music in a relaxed, supportive environment.

Library Card Shufflers

Literary Tea Society – Book Club

The Literary Tea Society is a book club for adults that spans all genres and topics – much like the blends in our tea cabinet. We’re eager for new book recommendations to sample, and welcome new members to the Society. Every month we’ll meet for a lovely cup of tea, with tea blends themed to our current book selection! Join our Society on the 2nd Wednesday of each month from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM for discussion, sips, and good literary fun!

Storytime Fun!

Storytime Fun is a storytime program intended for ages 3-5, though all are welcome. It will include stories, songs, some puppets and a craft or gross motor activity to prepare preschool friends for kindergarten. Storytime Fun will help with developing children’s social, emotional, cognitive, creative and physical skills and get them ready for school!

Oh Baby! Storytime

Oh Baby! Storytime is meant for our littlest library friends. It will include stories, songs, bouncing rhymes, finger plays, shakers and scarves, plus free play time where parents and caregivers can chat and make new friends outside of the house while their little ones play in a safe and welcoming environment.

Rising Stars (FULL)

Does your child love to act or want to start acting but does not know where to begin? The Saline County Library is hosting an acting course. We will go over everything your child needs to learn to start acting. We will also put on a play at the end of the programming year in May. The class will be held weekly from 10-11 at the main library in Benton. Registration is required for this event.

Acoustic Music Jams

Saturday, May 16: 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM

Acoustic Music Jam is back at the East End Library every first and third Saturday! All skill levels and ages are welcome as we play across genres, from folk and Americana to blues, rock, bluegrass and more. We’ll pull up some chairs, sit in a circle and take turns leading tunes. Share your favorite song, learn something new, and have fun making music and new friends. If you want to help someone out on their tune, go for it! If you’re not a musician and just want to listen, you can do that, too! Let’s make some music at the library!

Family Fun Festival & Movie in the Park

We are kicking off our upcoming Summer Reading Challenge with LOTS of fun on Saturday, May 16! We will have a patriotic parade to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the U.S., a FREE Pickleball Tournament, and lots more! Check it out:

Family Fun Fest

Get ready for fun in the sun! Starting at 5:30 PM, enjoy bounce houses, yard games, and tasty treats. After you grab a hot dog or snow cone, you can sign up for our Summer Reading Challenge and start your journey to read this summer… and win free prizes from the library!

Pickleball Tournament

Enter either a competitive (ages 16+) or family fun bracket of pickleball! There will be 16 team tournaments and a single elimination. Registration is totally free!

Movie Night in the Park: Night at the Museum
When down on his luck Larry Daley accepts a job at the Natural History Museum, things go sideways when the museum starts to come alive!Rated PG.

Patrons are encouraged to bring yard chairs, blankets, etc. The movie is expected to start at approximately 7:45 PM, depending on sunset. In the event of inclement weather, event will be rescheduled to Saturday May 23rd. Limited snacks and seating available. First-come, first served. Arrive early!
