U.S. Sen. John Boozman (R-AR) joined lawmakers on Capitol Hill to promote new bipartisan legislation aimed at expanding paid family leave access for workers across the nation.
Speaking during a panel hosted by The Hill, Boozman emphasized that paid leave is a non-partisan effort designed to support working families, small businesses, and elder care without imposing federal mandates. Read more below.
The panel discussion, titled “Future of Supporting American Families,” featured Boozman alongside Rep. Chrissy Houlahan (D-PA) and Rep. Stephanie Bice (R-OK) to discuss the More Paid Leave for More Americans Act.
The bipartisan, bicameral legislation seeks to bridge coverage gaps by offering states and employers a flexible framework to establish paid leave programs. Currently, only about 25% of American workers have access to employer-funded family leave, with small businesses facing significant administrative and regulatory barriers when attempting to compete with larger corporations.

Boozman pointed out that in states like Arkansas, family leave needs frequently extend to elder care due to an aging population. He also highlighted Arkansas’s recent implementation of paid leave for state employees and public school staff under Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders as evidence of strong conservative backing for family support measures.
Structured as a three-year pilot program, the legislation aims to improve maternal health outcomes and workforce productivity while allowing lawmakers to monitor results and adjust policies over time.
