Benton Civil Service Commission to interview open commissioner candidates Oct. 23

The Benton Civil Service Commission will hold a special meeting on Friday, Oct. 23, 2026, to interview candidates for an open commissioner seat and address business concerning the city’s police and fire departments. The public meeting is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. in the Council Chambers at Benton City Hall, located at 410 River Street. Read more below.

Commission proceedings will begin with administrative matters, including formal approval of the minutes from the commission’s Sept. 14, 2026, meeting.

Under new business, commissioners will conduct candidate interviews before making a selection to fill the vacant commissioner position. The commission will also consider agenda items involving both the Benton Fire Department and the Benton Police Department.

A public comment session will take place prior to adjournment. Members of the community are welcome to attend the meeting in person at City Hall.
