A 24-year-old man faces multiple state charges and a potential federal indictment following an armed confrontation and subsequent struggle with law enforcement at a local mobile home park in May.
Alan Valenciano Hernandez was arrested on the morning of May 8, 2026, at the Mobile Home Park located at 26270 Interstate 30, Alexander, after police responded to reports of a man brandishing a firearm.
According to police reports, the incident began around 9:00 AM when a mobile home park employee contacted a tow company to remove three vehicles. The employee noted in her statement that the resident had previously received multiple violations regarding vehicle registration and removal.
The tow truck driver reported that Valenciano Hernandez “brandished a small pistol” when the driver attempted to tow one of the vehicles. The driver stated he instructed Valenciano Hernandez to speak with the front office, and subsequently called the office to warn staff that the resident was heading their way and was armed.
An Alexander Police Officer arrived at the scene at approximately 9:31 AM following a 911 call from park employees. In his Use of Force report, the officer stated that he exited his patrol vehicle, drew his service pistol, and issued multiple verbal commands for Valenciano Hernandez to turn away with his hands in the air.
Mendez reported that Valenciano Hernandez initially complied, but as the officer approached to detain him, the suspect reached into his right rear pocket. Mendez grabbed the suspect’s hand to prevent him from retrieving an object, initiating a physical struggle.

During the altercation, a bystander attempted to assist the officer by holding one of Valenciano Hernandez’s arms. A Sergeant from Alexander Police Department arrived shortly after and utilized “soft hand control techniques” to help subdue the suspect, according to the report.
The Police Chief arrived while officers were still attempting to handcuff Valenciano Hernandez. Preator’s Use of Force report states that he announced he was deploying a JPX pepper system and discharged the device into the suspect’s facial area from a distance of 4.5 to 5 feet.
”I pulled the suspect to the ground by his hair and he continued to resist arrest,” the Chief stated in the report, adding that he performed knee strikes to the suspect’s rib area while commanding him to stop fighting.
The suspect’s eye was injured so officers called for medical, which arrived in minutes. During examination and a search of the suspect, officers allegedly discovered a Ruger .380 handgun and four rounds of ammunition.
Valenciano Hernandez was transported to the hospital for medical treatment to his eye and decontamination from the chemical agent. The responding officers within proximity of the pepper deployment were treated at the scene and subsequently taken to a hospital for evaluation.
Valenciano Hernandez was booked into the Saline County Detention Center on May 8 and was released on May 19. He has been charged with Aggravated Assault, Carrying a Weapon, Resisting Arrest, Refusal to Submit to Arrest, and two counts of Second-Degree Battery.
Additionally, local authorities transferred the recovered firearm and ammunition to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) in Little Rock. Reports indicate the ATF has decided to pursue a federal indictment on weapons charges.
