“Property taxes play an important role in keeping Saline County running smoothly and supporting the services we all rely on,” stated Saline County Collector Jennifer Carter. “We want to make it as easy as possible for everyone to take care of their taxes on time, so we offer several convenient payment options to fit your needs.”
What’s the Voluntary Tax?
Property taxes fund vital county services such as public safety, education, and infrastructure. Residents can also choose to contribute to three voluntary taxes that support additional important services:
Animal Care & Control:
Contributing to the Animal Control Voluntary Tax helps fund essential animal control services in unincorporated areas, supporting an officer within the Sheriff’s Office and low-cost spay/neuter clinics. This support promotes responsible pet ownership and fosters a safer community for everyone!
Weather Warning System:
Support for the Warning System Voluntary Tax ensures the upkeep and operation of 45 tornado sirens across Saline County. These sirens provide life-saving alerts during severe weather, giving residents critical time to seek shelter. Every contribution helps keep the community safe and prepared when it matters most!
Saline County Detention Center:
Contributions to the Detention Center Voluntary Tax help maintain the safety and security of Saline County. By supporting the operation and upkeep of the 234-bed facility, these funds ensure that the Detention Center runs efficiently, keeping offenders off the streets and enabling the Sheriff’s Office to better protect the community!
