The Saline County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) said in a statement that their Criminal Investigation Division responded to reports of gunfire at approximately 1:15 a.m. on May 24, 2026. The call was at NuWave, located at 14102 Chicot Road. The venue was hosting an “End of Year” party at the time, and SCSO says it was attended by several hundred juveniles.
According to sheriff’s office officials, the event was ending when gunfire broke out in the parking lot among several unidentified individuals. Private security officers employed by Capstone Support Group, who were hired to work the event, immediately responded to the shooting.
During the chaotic scene, a Capstone security officer encountered 19-year-old Ahmon Harris of Saline County. Investigators report that Harris was armed with a handgun and actively firing into the crowd. The security officer discharged their weapon, striking Harris. Harris was pronounced dead at the scene.
Immediately following that encounter, the same security officer was confronted by a 17-year-old juvenile who was reportedly armed with a handgun and pointing it at the officer. The guard fired again, striking the teenager in the hand.
The juvenile was taken to Arkansas Children’s Hospital, where they were treated and released. The teen was then transported to the Saline County Sheriff’s Office and has since been charged as an adult with Aggravated Assault and Possession of a Handgun by a Minor.
Detectives recovered two handguns from the scene of the shooting.
A third victim, identified as 18-year-old A’miyah Goolsby, was also struck by the gunfire during the initial altercation. She was treated and released from Baptist Health Medical Center.
The SCSO stated that this investigation remains active and ongoing as detectives work to identify the other individuals involved in the initial parking lot gunfire.
Authorities are urging anyone with information, video footage, or photos from the event to contact the Saline County Sheriff’s Office.
