Obituary
Samuel “Sam” Lee Wright
Benton, Arkansas
Born Jan 11, 1941 – Died Apr 18, 2026
Samuel “Sam” Lee Wright, 85, passed away on April 18, 2026, and went to be with his Lord and Savior. He was born on January 11, 1941, to Gladys Brumley Wright and Gordon Wright.
Sam lived a long life centered around his family. He was a member of Sharon Missionary Baptist Church. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who leaves behind a legacy of love and strength.
Sam will be remembered for his faith, his dedication to his family, and the lasting impact he made on all who knew him. His presence, guidance, and love will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
Sam was no stranger to hard work. Truly a jack-of-all-trades, and a skilled mechanic who believed just about anything could be fixed with a little know-how. He was also a very skilled welder. He took pride in figuring things out and helping others, always willing to lend a hand when something needed fixing.
The Saline County Fair Association said this about Sam Wright:
“Sam was a lifelong Saline County citizen, he loved this county, and he was an avid supporter of the Saline Co. Fair Associations’ endeavors for many years, and we are very thankful for his contributions to this organization.
“As a youngster, Sam participated in our annual junior livestock show showing steers. Then as he got older, he became a jack of all trades, and he made many repairs. He could fix anything from welding the bucking chutes and bleachers back together to repairing the engine on the tractor.
“In his later years, he chose to park cars in the rodeo parking lot on horseback. Sam wasn’t the one out in public making his contributions, he was the one behind the scenes supporting our endeavors as he saw the need.
“We can only imagine how he felt when he was greeted at the pearly gates by our Heavenly Father and welcomed home to spend eternity with him. Rest in his arms, Sam, you deserve it. Your family and friends are in the Saline Co. Fair Association Member’s thoughts and prayers.”
The family of Sam Wright would like to thank everyone for their love, prayers, and support during this time. He truly loved his “girls” and guys at Perry County Rehab and Nursing Home and his Hospice care team. Your kindness means more than words can express.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Pat Wright, who is lovingly known by all as “Nana.”
Sam is also survived by his three children: Anthony Wright (Gail), Jayme Coutcher (Scott), and Julie Blaylock (Jessie). He was a proud grandfather to six grandchildren: Coleby Wright (Linda), Nikki Mills, Samantha Stogsdill (O.P.), Stetson Blaylock (Lindsey), Kip Mills, and Keeton Blaylock (Morgan). He was further blessed with ten great-grandchildren, with two more on the way. His brother Tommy Wright (Debbie) and a host of dear friends and relatives who cherish his memory.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Marilyn LeQuieu (Robert) and Lucille Bagley (Joe).
