Arkansas Secretary of State Cole Jester announced plans for a Liberty Day celebration at the Arkansas State Capitol on June 30, featuring historical presentations, educational exhibits, and a public reading of the Declaration of Independence.
The public event aims to celebrate Almerica’s founding and honor the country’s continuing freedoms through interactive and educational activities. Read more below.
The daylong schedule begins at 8 a.m. with the opening of the All-America 250 Exhibits, highlighting historic displays including “Weapons and Words: A Revolutionary Story,” “Founding Fathers,” and “Symbols of America.”
At 9:30 a.m., officials will host the America Semiquincentennial Rose Garden Dedication. Capitol historians will then lead visitors through a guided walkthrough of the featured exhibits starting at 10:30 a.m.
Afternoon events begin at 2 p.m. with a public reading of the Declaration of Independence, accompanied by the Revolutionary War Color Guard. The programming concludes at 4 p.m. with a discussion titled “The Freedoms We Fought For,” featuring United States Attorney Jonathan Ross.
