It’s not an April Fool’s Day joke. That location of Dollar General in Benton, Arkansas is going to be closed for several days – likely through Thursday, April 2nd.
The reason is they are converting it into a DG Market, according to the local manager. The Dollar General corporation has been waiting to close the gaps in something called “food deserts.”
That’s what it’s called when residents live in an area where it may be challenging to access produce and other fresh groceries.
The local manager said they will not only have fresh produce, but meat as well. They have a goal to get the store remodeled quick and to reopen on Friday, April 3rd.
The manager also said they’ve had a big red sign hung at the store for a month about the remodeling, “but it’s not stopping them.” Apparently customers just keep showing up. It will ready soon.
We’ll update this story with anything new.
