A new sporting venue is bringing the fast-paced, high-energy world of radio-controlled racing to Saline County. I-30 RC Speed Bowl, located in Bryant, is officially open for the season, offering a dedicated space for both seasoned remote-control drivers and curious newcomers to test their skills on the track. The track is the brainchild of local enthusiast Michael Cox, his wife, and a group of friends who share a deep history with the sport.
“I used to race RC cars a long time ago when I was younger, and it seemed that most of the tracks close by had closed down,” Cox said. “My wife decided she wanted to get into RC racing, which got me back into racing. Then, we decided to open up our own track with some friends who also raced RC professionally.”
While some might view RC cars as simple toys, Cox emphasizes that what happens at I-30 RC Speed Bowl is firmly a sport.
“I would call this a sport,” Cox explained. “It is competitive at times and takes learning what works and doesn’t work for your car or the track during that day. People invest a ton of money into RC racing.”

The track caters to a massive variety of racing styles, hosting specialized classes to keep the competition fair and exciting. Drivers can compete in classes ranging from Kids (14 & under) and Novice to more advanced divisions like Mudboss, Traxxas Modified, Midget, Losi Sprint, SC Street Stock, Open Sprint, Open Late Model, 13.5 Street Stock, and SC Modified.
The venue offers a balance of relaxed community gathering and high-stakes competition. On practice days, the track transforms into a giant “test and tune” session where drivers hang out, tinker with their vehicles, and help one another out.
“We don’t sell parts, but people are always there to help others out with parts or adjustments to the cars,” Cox said, highlighting the tight-knit camaraderie of the local RC community.
When race day arrives, the atmosphere sharpens. The track hosts special “plaque races” throughout the season, alongside major events featuring impressive raffle prizes. Depending on the event, participants can win via 50/50 raffles, vehicle giveaways, or prize packages donated by RC companies.
Unlike traditional dirt tracks or drag strips, neighbors won’t have to worry about the roar of engines. I-30 RC Speed Bowl runs electric RC cars, meaning the high-speed action is completely quiet.
