Benton City Councilman Trevor Villines released an announcement on Wednesday stating he would run for the office of Saline County Clerk.
Wednesday was the last day to file for office, and the only other would-be candidate, the current County Clerk, decided not to run. With no opponents, that means Villines has already won the office – almost a full year before the 2026 general election.
In order to take County office, Villines must step down from his City Council position in January 2027. Villines is also employed as Communications Director with the County government and must step down from that position.

Trevor Villines, a dedicated lifelong resident of Saline County, former Deputy Clerk, and current Benton City Councilman, officially announces his campaign for Saline County Clerk. Villines is running unopposed in the 2026 election cycle on a platform committed to maintaining election integrity, boosting voter participation, enhancing public awareness of the office’s vital functions, and continuing the modernization and preservation of the county’s historical records.
“The County Clerk’s office is the foundation of our democracy and a key resource for every citizen in Saline County,” said Villines. “My experience as a former Deputy Clerk gave me firsthand knowledge of the dedication and precision required for this role. I’m committed to ensuring our elections remain secure and accurate, making the office more accessible and informative for our community, and protecting our county’s history for future generations.”
Villines brings significant relevant experience to the role, having served as a former Deputy Clerk in the Saline County Clerk’s Office and currently as Benton City Councilman for Ward 4. He also has a strong background in public service as the current Communications Director for Saline County Government and as Chair of the Saline County 250 Commission.
“Ten years ago, Saline County Clerk Doug Curtis gave me the opportunity of a lifetime to join his team and work alongside an exceptional staff,” Villines said. “The Clerk’s Office is stronger and more efficient today thanks to Doug’s leadership. Under his direction, the office has implemented innovative practices that have led to record-breaking voter turnout, the preservation of historical records, and many other accomplishments. I am forever grateful for the opportunity to work for Doug and to witness his servant-hearted dedication to the people of Saline County. He has truly served this community with excellence.”
As a lifelong Saline County resident and a Graduate of the University of Arkansas, Villines is deeply invested in the community. He is an active member of New Life Church in Saline County, a Member of the Benton-Bauxite Rotary Club, and serves as a Board Member for the Bryant Youth Association. He is also a Member of the Greater Saline Young Republicans.
“I understand the responsibilities of the County Clerk’s office, and I have a clear plan to build on its successes while implementing innovative ways to serve the public better,” Villines concluded. “I look forward to serving the citizens of Saline County.”
