The Young Players are bringing the delightfully spooky and kooky world of The Addams Family Musical to the stage at the historic Royal Theatre in downtown Benton this September.
The musical comedy is scheduled for six performances running from September 10th-20th. Read more below.
The production features a book by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice, with music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa, and is based on the famous characters created by Charles Addams. Directed and choreographed by Tom Crone, with music direction by Grace Wells, the show is sponsored locally by McCombs Medical and has received promotional support from the Benton Advertising and Promotion Commission.
Performances will take place at the historic Royal Theatre, located at 111 S. Market Street in Historic Downtown Benton. Show dates are scheduled for September 10, 12, 13, and September 17, 19, and 20, 2026. Thursday and Saturday evening performances will begin at 7:00 p.m., while Sunday matinees are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. There are no Friday performances scheduled for this production.
The comedy revolves around an older Wednesday Addams who has fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family. As Wednesday begs her father Gomez to keep the relationship a secret from her mother Morticia, everything comes to a head during a fateful dinner party hosting the boyfriend and his “normal” parents.
The show is recommended for audiences aged 8 and older, with a running time of approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes, including an intermission. Potential audience members should note that the production may use strobe lights and haze effects.
The local cast includes Ken Goodman as Gomez, Amanda Kennedy as Morticia, Madison Richards as Wednesday, Jaydon Clark as Pugsley, Matthew Burns as Uncle Fester, Cheryl Troillett as Grandma, and Chris Owen as Lurch.
The Beineke family is played by Harold Dean as Mal, Rylee Woodard as Alice, and Mitchell Swanner as Lucas.
Appearing as the Addams Ancestors are Callie Crow, Laila Smith, Taylor Ann Pitts, Macy McGinty, Brenley Camplain, Cam Fry, Amia Vela, Lauryn Fells, Abby Grace Neufer, Kami Lewis, Brayden Armstrong, Jacob Lenzini, Connor Heyl, Mars Lecompt-Nickols, Ethan Toland, Josh Green, and Logan McGrew.
Alana Dunn serves as the assistant director and stage manager, and the show is produced by Daphne Shoppach and Matthew Burns.
Tickets are currently on sale. Online ticket prices are $20 for general admission; $15 for seniors aged 60 and older, college students, and military members; and $10 for children and students in the 12th grade and younger. Box office prices at the door are $22 for general admission, $17 for seniors, college students, and military, and $12 for student-aged tickets.
