Saline County has partnered with the City of Benton, the City of Bryant, Benton Area Chamber of Commerce, Greater Bryant Chamber of Commerce, First United Methodist Church-Benton, Arkansas National Guard, VFW Post 2256, D.A.R.-Provincia De La Sal Chapter, DAR-Saline Crossing Chapter, Never Forgotten Arkansas-Quilts of Valor, and Let Freedom Ring Quilts of Valor to host a Vietnam Veterans Memorial Day Ceremony.

The ceremony will take place on Monday, March 30 at 6:00 p.m. at the Saline County Veterans Memorial in front of the Saline County Courthouse. In the event of rain, the ceremony will be moved indoors to the nearby First United Methodist Church Benton Family Life Center (Located off W. Sevier St. across from the Courthouse). The ceremony will be livestreamed on the City of Benton YouTube Page (@BentonAR).
Parking for Veterans will be available on the Main St. & Sevier St. side of the Saline County Courthouse. Overflow parking will be available at the First United Methodist Church off Sevier St. A shuttle will transport attendees from the Methodist Church to the Veterans Memorial.
Arkansas had 592 Veterans that were killed in action in the Vietnam War, including 10 Veterans from Saline County. The 592 Arkansas Veterans will be remembered with 592 small flags spread across the courthouse lawn. Additionally the 10 Saline County Veterans will be remembered with 10 large flags across the courthouse lawn.
Saline County Vietnam Veterans will be honored and remembered during the ceremony in which quilts of valor will be presented, taps performed, and a patriotic medley will be sung by the Benton High School Choir. The keynote will be delivered by General Jeff Lofgren.
The Saline County Salute to Veterans Fund was established to support and promote programs, events, and initiatives that honor the service and sacrifice of our local veterans. The fund helps Saline County continue honoring our veterans through memorial ceremonies and community events that recognize their service and sacrifice. Individuals and organizations interested in supporting this effort may do so by making checks payable to Saline County – Salute to Veterans Fund and mailing them to 200 N. Main St., Benton, AR 72015.
