The Saline County Striders are hosting a free six-week run and walk clinic beginning Monday, Oct. 12, to help community members of all fitness levels train for a local 5K.
The program is open to walkers, beginner runners, and experienced athletes looking to build consistency and fitness in a supportive group environment. Read more below.
Coached sessions will take place twice weekly on Mondays and Thursdays at 6 p.m., running from Oct. 12 through Nov. 19.
During the first three weeks of training, group meetings will be held at the Bryant Junior High Track. For weeks four through six, training sessions will transition to the Benton River Center.
Participants will be grouped based on their current conditioning and personal goals, with dedicated tracks for walkers, brand-new runners, returning runners, intermediate runners, and experienced runners. Organizers emphasize that no prior running experience or baseline fitness level is required to join.
The six-week training program prepares participants for a graduation event at the Saline County Striders Turkey Trot 5K on Saturday, Nov. 21.
The clinic is entirely free to attend, however, participants are asked to sign up online through the official registration page.
