Read more below.
Doors will open to the public at 5:30 p.m., and attendees are instructed to enter the courthouse via the ADA-accessible Market Street entrance. The HR Committee will convene first at 5:45 p.m. to discuss a pay increase for an experienced dispatcher who has completed their probationary period, as well as to approve a bilingual certification for a new hire.
During the regular meeting, the court will hear the first reading of an ordinance regulating animal control within the unincorporated boundaries of Saline County. The proposed legislation aims to provide better enforcement against irresponsible dog owners by establishing strict guidelines for at-large and vicious dogs, mandating rabies vaccinations and proper identification tags, and instituting fines of up to $500 for abandonment. The ordinance also formally adopts the Dunbar Dog Bite Scale to objectively assess the severity of dog bite incidents.
In addition to the animal control measures, the court will consider an ordinance to amend the 2026 county budget. This includes appropriating funds for new school resource officers in the Sheridan and Bauxite school districts, allocating over $328,000 in insurance proceeds for fairgrounds storm mitigation, and purchasing new software for the 911 center. Officials will also review an emergency ordinance to establish a special revenue fund for the Saline County Sheriff’s Office Task Force.
Other business on the agenda includes a resolution to appoint Maddison Schuller to the Saline County Public Library Board to fill an expired term. If approved, her term will expire on June 30, 2031.
