Saline County officials will discuss several items at the next Quorum Court meeting on Monday, including a proposed vote on a library funding decrease, changes to the county budget, and adoption of an official county flag.
County committees have already discussed these issues, but it is the Quorum Court that has the authority to vote on items. Read more below and see videos of discussion in committees.
The meeting is set for 6:00 p.m. Monday, April 20, 2026, at the Saline County Courthouse.
One of the most significant items is an ordinance that would send a measure to voters in November to adjust the current millage that funds the Saline County library system.
Officials say population growth and rising costs have increased the need for funding to maintain and operate the library system.
Justices of the peace will also consider several updates to the 2026 county budget, including:
- Appropriating funds from insurance proceeds and equipment sales
- Allocating grant money for sheriff’s department equipment
- Transferring an unused sheriff’s department vehicle to Monroe County
The court is expected to vote on adopting an official Saline County flag, selected through a public design process.
Another proposal would create a “Salute to Veterans Fund,” a special revenue fund to support programs and events honoring military veterans.
Additional business includes:
- Bilingual pay policy for county employees (second reading)
- Election office staffing changes
- A presentation from the National Weather Service on storm warnings
- A proclamation honoring Bryant High School’s state championship boys basketball team
The meeting will also include public comments and announcements before adjournment.
