Evelyn A. Nance
Evelyn A. Nance, age 55, left this world and gained her angel wings on September 15, 2026, in Little Rock, Arkansas. Born on September 25, 1970, in Springfield, OH. She was the cherished daughter of Ewilda Bay and the late Clarence Bay.
Evelyn lived a life filled with resilience, talent, and devotion to the people she loved. She was a woman of remarkable versatility — a licensed cosmetologist, a CDL truck driver, and a dedicated homemaker. Whether she was behind the wheel, behind a salon chair, or caring for her home, Evelyn approached every role with pride and purpose.
She found joy in the simple moments: spending time with family and friends, relaxing with a favorite TV show or movie, and cheering enthusiastically for her beloved Florida Gators football team. Her laughter, her loyalty, and her vibrant spirit made her a light in the lives of all who knew her.
On July 4, 2000, Evelyn married the love of her life, Richard Nance, and together they built a life grounded in commitment, humor, and unwavering love. She was a caring daughter, mother, wife, and grandmother whose presence made every gathering warmer and every memory brighter.
Evelyn is preceded in death by her father, Clarence Bay; her grandparents, Virda and Clifford Sheets; and her stepson, Kyle Nance.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 26 years, Richard Nance; her mother, Ewilda Bay; her children, Elizabeth Martin and Dylan Martin; her stepdaughters, Heather Nance and Makayla Nance; her grandchildren, Joseph Martin and Daniel Lackey; and her step‑grandchildren, Skyler Coughlin, Natalie Coughlin, and Layla Thompson.
The family will hold a private ceremony to honor Evelyn’s life and legacy.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Heart Association in Evelyn’s honor, so her memory may continue to touch lives and inspire hope.
Evelyn’s legacy lives on in the family she adored, the memories she created, and the love she shared so generously. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
John Cecil Brown, Jr.
John Cecil Brown, Jr. , 71, of Benton, Arkansas passed away September 16, 2026. He was born on August 1, 1955 to the late John Cecil Brown, Sr. and Dean V. (Tatum) Brown. He proudly served and retired from the United States Navy. He was dearly loved by his family and friends. Family to hold memorial at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock, Arkansas. Day and time to be determined. Services entrusted to Smith-Benton Funeral Home.

James Bruce Hyslop
James Bruce Hyslop of Bryant, Arkansas passed away on September 8, 2026. He was born in Warren, Ohio on April 20, 1955 to James and Edna Hyslop. Bruce was a graduate from Mathews High School in Vienna, Ohio and became a Marine for two years in 1974. Years later, he decided to settle down in Arkansas. It was then he became a massive Arkansas Razorback fan. Bruce had many other hobbies such as fishing but when it was time to watch the Hogs all eyes were glued on them. He was overall a quiet man but an incredible loving father and husband. Bruce was one of a kind and the world will not be the same without him.
He is preceded in death by his wife Tammy Hyslop and parents, James and Edna Hyslop.
He is survived by his two sons, Kevin Hyslop and Nick Rice; his grandchildren, Braden Rice, Landon Rice, and Elizabeth Rice; and his sisters, Linda Meister and Judy Benson.
