Lee’s Faith & Fitness: Face-to-Face Accountability

February 19, 2019 By Shelli Poole Leave a Comment

Lee Crow takes a step in a new direction, with a name change for his column and a new logo to go with it. Lee’s Faith & Fitness will be the new name of his column. Follow Lee Crow of Bryant on his fitness path, and try his recipes and health tips. See the the archives to his featured column here.

This weeks edition of Lee’s Faith & Fitness is more of a response to a question I have been asked a lot.  What was it that got you started on your weight loss journey? I like to answer that question by talking about what I like to call the power of accountability.

While I didn’t actually start seeing my weight loss take off until April 2017, just a couple months before, I had a face-to-face, heart-to-heart with a dear friend.  That meeting was something that hurt.  She looked me in the eyes and pretty much told me that if something didn’t change I could forget being around to see my girls graduate from high school or to walk them down the aisle.  Those words pierced my heart and that’s when the process began.
You see, accountability is important with anything in life.  It couldn’t be more true with weight loss.  You need someone to push you, encourage you, and pick you up when you fall.  But that’s just one way to be accountable with your weight loss journey.  You’ve seen my recipes and see that I use my fitness pal to formulate my recipes and track my nutrition each day.  Your nutrition macro is another way to keep yourself accountable on your journey.
Ultimately, it takes someone getting in your face and looking you in the eyes and being truthful with you.  It’s not about being hateful or mean, it’s about tough love.  You don’t need someone to sell you weed killer to get rid of crab grass or just any weeds, you need someone tell you you have a problem and then you identify what that problem is first.  Once that happens it will make sense.
If you own a business and would be interested in a great opportunity to promote your business we are looking for an ad sponsor for Lee’s Faith & Fitness. You can email me at [email protected]

Keep on the lookout for my next column when I’ll be sharing about the importance of being consistent and sticking to the process when it comes to healthy weight loss.
