Daughters of the American Revolution plan to celebrate Constitution Week with bell ringing ceremony at the Veterans Memorial at the Saline County Courthouse on September 17th. Read more below.
From September 17-23, 2025, communities throughout the nation will be celebrating the spirit and meaning of the United States Constitution. September 17, 1787 marks the anniversary of the signing of this document by 39 delegates at the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia. In 1955, DAR spearheaded an effort to set aside one week annually when Americans are encouraged to celebrate the iconic signing. After petitioning Congress, President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed Constitution Week into law on August 2, 1956.
The Saline Crossing Chapter, NSDAR will be commemorating the signing of the Constitution on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at 3:00 PM with a ringing of the bells at the Veterans Memorial located on the grounds of the Saline County Courthouse.
There will also be an appearance by “Polly, the Tavern Keeper”, dressed in colonial style, who will talk about the meeting of the authors of the Constitution that took place in her tavern. The public is invited to bring a bell and help the chapter celebrate this momentous occasion.
