The Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund is now accepting applications for its fall 2026 semester, offering financial assistance to eligible Saline County parents pursuing higher education or skilled-trade programs.
Single parents have until Sept. 1 to apply for awards ranging from $400 to $1,600 to help balance the costs of school, work, and raising a family. Read more below.
The scholarships provide flexible funding that can be used for educational and living expenses, paired with mentorship, career guidance, and connections to local resources. So far in 2026, the nonprofit organization has awarded 13 scholarships totaling $17,600 to single parents in Saline County.
Lakeesha Hardy, a single parent from Alexander who is currently studying nursing at the University of Arkansas – Pulaski Technical College, is among the recent scholarship recipients. Hardy stated the assistance gave her a sense of purpose and relief as she juggled the numerous responsibilities of parenting.
“All parents deserve the opportunity to build a better future through education,” ASPSF CEO Jenn Morehead said. “When we remove barriers to earning a degree or workforce credential, families, employers, and communities all benefit.”
To qualify for the fall semester awards, applicants must be a single parent residing in an eligible Arkansas county or Bowie County, Texas. Candidates must hold a high school diploma or GED, maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA, and meet the program’s income eligibility guidelines.
Additionally, students must be enrolled in at least one three-credit-hour course while actively pursuing an associate degree, bachelor’s degree, professional certificate, or a skilled-trade program.
The application period officially opened on Aug. 1. Both new and returning applicants are encouraged to submit their paperwork before the fast-approaching Sept. 1 deadline. Interested individuals can review the full eligibility requirements and access the online application at aspsf.org/scholarships.
