Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders and the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) have officially launched the Arkansas ACCESS Portal, a new universal application system designed to streamline the college admissions process for high school seniors across the state.
The online platform allows students to apply to up to five participating higher education institutions using a single form and login, with all application fees waived. Read more below.
The launch of the portal builds on the Arkansas ACCESS law signed in 2025, which aims to improve post-secondary outcomes and ensure graduates are prepared to enroll, enlist, or enter the workforce.
The new system replaces a repetitive application process with a more efficient, unified approach that removes traditional barriers for students and their families.
Through the ACCESS Portal, students who meet a participating institution’s baseline requirements will be granted provisional admission.
To further simplify the process, the ADE’s Electronic Transcript System will automatically upload students’ coursework, grade point averages, and test data. This integration eliminates the need for families to manually enter their academic information multiple times.
According to a statement from Gov. Sanders’ office, the portal was developed in-house by the education department within 12 months of the law being signed. It has secured full participation from all of Arkansas’ two-year and four-year public colleges, and about half of the state’s private institutions.
Local school counselors and career coaches will guide the rollout, utilizing programs like senior advisories, FAFSA nights, and application days to encourage every high school senior to submit at least one application before priority deadlines.
“The Arkansas ACCESS Portal takes what used to be a confusing, repetitive college application process that would overwhelm students and families and streamlines it into a simple process,” Arkansas Secretary of Education Jacob Oliva said. “Now, every student in Arkansas can learn about different pathways and directly connect with the institution to help them reach their goals.”
The ACCESS Portal is currently live and available for seniors, parents, and school staff to use. Detailed information, including FAQs, a list of participating institutions, and key deadlines, can be found through the portal’s online INFO Center at https://us.list-manage.com/DdaLsMoa7PW?e=4ab651ced5&c2id=8c5779eddbec10d02f32d3203da440d3.
