The City of Benton Historic District Commission will hold its regular meeting on Thursday, Nov. 5, 2026, to discuss historic preservation grant funding and potential nominations to the National Register of Historic Places.
The public session is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers. Read more below.
The commission, led by Chair Brett Chumley alongside Director of Community Development and Staff Liaison Jason Lyon, will open the session with a statement of FOIA compliance and the approval of official meeting minutes from May 7, 2026, and Sept. 3, 2026.
Under new business, board members will review details for the 2027–2028 Certified Local Government (CLG) Grant cycle. The CLG program operates as a federal-to-state pass-through grant funded through the U.S. National Park Service’s Historic Preservation Fund (HPF). It is administered locally by State Historic Preservation Offices, including the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program, to support municipal preservation initiatives and historic resources.
Under other business, commissioners will also hold a discussion regarding property nominations to the National Register of Historic Places prior to adjournment.
