Birch Tree Communities has named Director of Nursing and Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Teneal Hill as its Practitioner of the Year.
Hill, a Benton resident who began her career with the organization 26 years ago as a paraprofessional, was honored for her decades of dedicated mental health service. Read more below.
Hill was recognized at the recent Arkansas Behavioral Health Institute Annual Awards Luncheon, where behavioral health professionals from across the state were celebrated for their contributions. She is one of 16 practitioners named Practitioners of the Year by member agencies of the Arkansas Council for Behavioral Health, which honors exceptional leadership and dedication in the field.
“Teneal is an extraordinary asset to Birch Tree Communities, and her journey with our organization is truly inspirational,” said CEO Dr. Brad Holloway. “Her passion for behavioral health began during a high school visit to Birch Tree Communities, where she recognized her desire to serve adults living with serious mental illness.”
Hill joined the organization in 2000 and advanced through the ranks to become the Director of Nursing and a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. “Her compassion and commitment to our members have made a lasting impact on our organization, and we are honored to recognize her outstanding contributions with this award,” Holloway said.
Born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Hill moved to Benton, Arkansas during her high school years and graduated from Benton High School. She began her higher education at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville before earning a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Hill returned to UALR for her nursing degree in 2005 and later earned a Master of Nursing with a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Certification from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in 2014.
Hill is a member of both the American Psychiatric Nurses Association and the American Society of Clinical Psychopharmacology. She lives in Benton with her family, which includes her husband, a pharmacist at a local hospital, her sports-active son, and a Goldendoodle. In her leisure time, she enjoys working out, reading, traveling back to Louisiana to visit family, eating Cajun food, and going to the beach.
Birch Tree Communities Inc. is a nonprofit behavioral health organization that provides therapeutic communities for adults living with serious and persistent mental illness. The organization serves approximately 400 members across 12 branches in Arkansas, focusing on supporting mental health recovery and independent living.
