We held the 2026 Primary Election on March 3rd, but there is a need for a Runoff Election on March 31st for two races – Saline County Sheriff and Arkansas Secretary of State.
The Saline County Clerk’s Office reminds voters about key dates, locations and absentee deadlines ahead of the March 31, 2026, primary runoff election.
WHY HAVE A RUNOFF?
Runoff elections occur when no candidate receives a majority of votes in a primary contest. In those cases, the top two candidates advance to a runoff to determine the winner.
WHO’S RUNNING?
Two races in Saline County advanced to a runoff following the March 3 primary election. They are both in the Republican Party.
Saline County Sheriff
-
- Dustin Robertson
- Richard Friend
Arkansas Secretary of State
-
- Kim Hammer
- Bryan Norris
WHO CAN VOTE?
If you voted on a Democratic Ballot Feb 17-Mar 3, 2026, then you cannot vote in this runoff. Election officials said voters must participate in the same party’s runoff as the primary in which they originally voted. For example, someone who voted in the Republican primary cannot vote in the Democratic runoff, and vice versa.
THERE’S MORE?
Another race that did not produce a majority winner — Fountain Lake School District Board of Directors Position 5, between Laura Ramoly and Bao Nguyen — will not appear on the March ballot. Because school board races are nonpartisan, that runoff will instead be held during the November general election.
