The Metroplan Board of Directors approved the funding as part of the federal Transportation Alternatives Program, which supports bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure, multimodal safety improvements, and intersection upgrades.
TAP is a federal-aid transportation program administered by the Federal Highway Administration. Projects are selected through an application and review process, and all recipients are required to provide at least a 20% local funding match.
Applications for Federal Fiscal Year 2027 funding were submitted on January 9, 2026, and evaluated under Metroplan policies.
The following projects around Arkansas were approved:
Benton — Alcoa Trail Phase 1 and 2 (Design) — $335,000
