UPDATE MARCH 4, 2026 8PM
Saline County voters will head back to the polls for three runoff races on two different dates. Read more below.
Unofficial results from the March 3, 2026 preferential primary show there are two key offices with no candidate earning more than 50 percent of the vote. Under Arkansas law, candidates must secure a majority (50% plus one vote) to win outright; if they fall short, the top two finishers face a runoff.
As a result, Saline County voters will return to the polls for a runoff election on Tuesday, March 31. The races are as follows:
Ark. Secretary of State (Republican)
The Republican primary for Secretary of State ended in a three‑way split among state Sen. Kim Hammer, Miller County Judge Cathy Hardin Harrison and Army veteran Bryan Norris. With no candidate reaching the majority threshold, the two top vote‑getters — Norris and Hammer — will advance to the runoff.
The winner will face Democratic nominee Kelly Grappe in the November 3rd general election.
Saline County Sheriff
A four‑person contest for Saline County Sheriff also failed to produce a majority winner. Unofficial tallies show that Dustin Robertson and Richard Friend received the most votes, while Aaron Washington and Rodney Goshien, each finished out of contention.
Robertson, who currently serves as Chief Deputy Sheriff, and Friend, who is currently Chief of Police in England, Arkansas, will meet in the runoff.
School Board
Arkansas’ new Act 503 moved school board elections to the primary cycle and requires any runoffs to be held on the general election date, November 3rd. According to the Arkansas School Boards Association, school board elections now occur only in even‑numbered years and are held alongside the preferential primary.
The only runoff race for School Board this year is in Fountain Lake School District in Zone 5.
Laura Ramoly received the most votes just over 48% which of course falls short of 50% and at least 1 more vote. Therefore, she’ll face the candidate with the next highest number of votes in the November runoff. That candidate is Bao Nguyen, with over 34%. A third contender, Christopher Desfassiaux received over 17% of the vote.
