Timothy Wallace, a Saline County man convicted in 2007 of the double murder of his ex-wife and her acquaintance, is seeking executive clemency from the Governor of Arkansas. State authorities are currently accepting public feedback on the application ahead of a scheduled review by the Arkansas Parole Board. Read more below.
The application for Executive Clemency Commutation filed by Wallace, Timothy ADC#139107, was formally published in a legal notice in accordance with Arkansas state law. His petition will undergo a formal review by the Arkansas Parole Board during the month of October 2026.

The case dates back to the early morning hours of June 26, 2005, when Wallace was age 38. According to court records, Wallace placed a call himself to 911 at approximately 2:30 a.m. indicating that he had shot his former wife, Brandy Wallace, and her male acquaintance, Billy Hassel, at the home the couple had previously shared.
Wallace had surrendered the home to Brandy in an uncontested divorce decree filed just nine days prior to the incident. During the 911 call, which lasted for several hours, Wallace repeatedly threatened suicide and refused to disclose his whereabouts. Saline County sheriff’s deputies eventually located and apprehended him inside his parked pickup truck in a rural section of the county.
At trial, Wallace claimed that he had returned to the home to retrieve personal belongings and shot Hassel in self-defense, asserting that Brandy’s death was accidental. However, forensic evidence presented by the state medical examiner showed that Brandy was shot multiple times at close range while holding her car keys and her cellular phone, while Hassel suffered three gunshot wounds—including shots originating from behind—and severe blunt force trauma consistent with being struck by the butt of a gun.
On June 14, 2007, a Saline County Circuit Court jury convicted Wallace of two counts of capital murder. He was subsequently sentenced on June 18, 2007, to two consecutive terms of life imprisonment without the possibility of parole. At this point, 21 years have passed.
Wallace filed several subsequent appeals, arguing various points of trial error, ineffective assistance of counsel, and actual innocence, all of which were subsequently denied or dismissed by the Arkansas Supreme Court and the federal district court.
Having exhausted all standard legal appeals, executive clemency represents his final remaining option for sentence commutation.
