Locals can look forward to a sweet and creative start to the season as the Saline County Library teams up with a local favorite for a special community event. The Saline County Library will host “Ice Cream & Art Day,” on Sunday. Read more below.
The event will take place at Loblolly Creamery’s downtown Benton location, at 115 N. Market St. Come anytime from Noon to 5:00 p.m. on May 31, 2026.
This family-friendly gathering serves as a celebration for the launch of the library’s annual Summer Reading Challenge. To mark the occasion, Loblolly will be debuting a brand-new, exclusive Summer Reading Challenge ice cream flavor for attendees to try. Our flavor guess is Dewey Decim-almond. (We’ll show ourselves out!)
In addition to the new flavor rollout, the event features a free, hands-on art experience. Attendees of all ages are invited to drop in at any time during event hours to test their artistic abilities. The library will provide a variety of different art mediums for participants to use, available while supplies last.
Entry to the event and participation in the art activities are completely free. Organizers note that ordering food and ice cream is optional, and payment for any purchases remains the responsibility of the customer.
Whether you are looking to sign up for the Summer Reading Challenge, create a masterpiece, or simply indulge in a cold treat, the library invites the entire community to come out and join the fun.
