The 7th Annual Saline River Canoe Race is on! The race is May 13th at Lyle Park in Benton.
Organizer Colt Musteen says that with prizes, games, food, a canoe giveaway and more, there is something for everyone. “Whether you are looking for an outdoor adventure with your family or have a competitive spirit that can only be quenched with a 1st-place finish, you will have a blast at the Saline River Canoe Race.”
The race is approximately 4 miles from Peeler Bend to Lyle Park. The teams are two people per canoe, 18 years old and up unless accompanied by an adult. They will separate racers into two classes (if needed) – with racing boats allowed in the more competitive class.
Registration fee of $50 per team includes:
- canoe rental (competitive class must bring your own canoe),
- safety vests, and
- an official Saline River Canoe Race T-Shirt.
1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners will be awarded trophies and cash prizes: $200, $150, and $100 per team respectively. The team with the most creative name will receive a bonus prize.
Musteen says, “Join us to cheer on the competitors and don’t miss the best part — the after-party! Free food, entertainment, games for the kids, Baggo tourney, and more!”
