Design Guidelines (inspired by the North American Vexillological Association):
Keep It Simple – A good flag should be so simple a child can draw it from memory.
Use Meaningful Symbolism –The flag’s imagery should reflect the identity, history, and values of Saline County. Consider incorporating elements such as the Saline County Courthouse, the Old River Bridge, the outline of the county, or colors from the Saline County logo. Traditional design elements like stars and stripes are also welcome if they hold relevant meaning.
Limit to 2–3 Basic Colors – Choose colors that contrast well and are easy to distinguish. Click here for Common Flag Colors & their meanings.
Avoid Lettering & Seals – Do not include text, official seals, or complex images.
Be Distinctive – Aim for a design that is unique while still being respectful of traditional flag elements.
Consider Practical Use – Your design should look good at any size, whether flying on a flagpole, printed on merchandise, or displayed online.
