Saline County will soon have new places to shop, eat, and sleep. A well-known developer has plans for the property next to the Arkansas Heart Hospital/Encore Medical Center. The hospital is in the city limits of Bryant, and this new development will be just over the border in Benton.
John Rees and family just signed the deal to purchase approximately 17 acres of commercial highway land in Benton, Arkansas, with plans to add retail, restaurants, a hotel, and more. Rees Commercial is the name of the company, and they already own several developments, including the newly constructed Shoppes at Chenal.

Plans for this upcoming center include full-service restaurants, fast food restaurants and in particular, the breakfast restaurant, Toasted Yolk has already agreed to be a part of the project, according to Rees.
There are also plans for a 99-room hotel from the Hilton brand, a convenience store, and areas for medical and real estate businesses.
“It’s really a hot area, so we wanted to be there,” stated Rees. “We want to make Benton and Saline County proud of this.”

The project has not come through the Development Review Committee or the Planning and Zoning Commission yet, as Matt Thibault of the City of Benton explained to MySaline, but they welcome it with open arms. “The City of Benton is proud to have more choices and happy about jobs to come to the area. It’s exciting.”

Also, Rees Commercial is an Arkansas company, and they want what Saline County wants. Be sure to comment specific businesses or types of businesses of this size that you would like to have, or you feel is lacking in the area.
