ORDINANCE NO. 2026-__
BE IT ENACTED BY THE QUORUM COURT OF SALINE COUNTY, STATE OF ARKANSAS, AN ORDINANCE TO BE ENTITLED: “AN ORDINANCE INCREASING THE MEMBERSHIP OF THE SALINE COUNTY BOARD OF EQUALIZATION.”
WHEREAS, Arkansas Code Annotated §26-27-303 establishes the composition of county boards of equalization; and
WHEREAS, Arkansas Code Annotated §26-27-303(b) authorizes counties with populations over 79,000 to elect to expand the composition of the board of equalization from five members to nine members; and
WHEREAS, due to the growing population of Saline County and the accompanying increase in the amount of business conducted before the board of equalization, the Saline County Quorum Court finds it necessary to expand the membership of the Saline County board of equalization from five members to nine members as authorized by law.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED by the Quorum Court of Saline County, Arkansas that:
Article 1. The Saline County Board of Equalization shall be expanded to consist of nine members.
Article 2. The appointment of additional members to accomplish the expansion of the board shall take place in accordance with Ark. Code Ann. § 26-27-304.
