Wrapping, Santa, trivia, shopping, crafts and more are on the “nice list” for Saline County, and waiting at the Saline County Library. Read the list below.
The Bob Herzfeld Memorial Library Branch and Mabel Boswell Memorial Library Branch will have free wrapping paper and a table set up for patrons to wrap their holiday gifts. The Holiday Wrapping Station will be available during each of the library branch’s open hours from Monday, December 1 to Saturday, December 20.
Santa Visits the Library
All three library branches (the Bob Herzfeld Memorial Library Branch in Benton, Mabel Boswell Memorial Library Branch in Bryant, and East End Branch) will host photo opportunities with Santa. All Santa Visits will take place from 3:30 PM – 5:30 PM, with different dates for each branch as follows:
- East End Branch: December 2 at 3:30 PM – 5:30 PM
- Bryant Branch: December 4 at 3:30 PM – 5:30 PM
- Benton Branch: December 9 at 3:30 PM – 5:30 PM
The Benton Branch will have local authors exhibit at the library from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM on Saturday, December 6. Patrons are encouraged to meet the authors, discuss their work, and purchase books as holiday gifts.
On Tuesday, December 9 from 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM, the library will run a holiday-themed trivia at U.S Pizza in Bryant. Entry to the event is free, and all ages are welcome. Patrons are responsible for the purchase of their own food and drink. Prizes will be awarded to trivia winners. Registration is strongly encouraged as space is limited.
The Benton branch will host a variety of crafting activities downstairs in the Makerspace area and Lower Commons. The Holiday Workshop session, taking place on Wednesday, December 10 from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM, will have guided instruction on how to make custom holiday cards, gift tags, and handmade ornaments. No registration is required, and patrons of all ages are encouraged to drop in to create seasonal items.
Need a last minute gift? There will be a second Holiday Workshop on Saturday, December 20 from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at the Bryant Branch. Patrons of all ages are welcome to use Makerspace supplies to wrap gifts, create homemade presents, and enjoy festive treats.
Tweens and Teens are invited to visit the Bryant Makerspace to make DIY gifts for the holiday season. The Makerspace will be open on Mondays and Wednesdays during December from 3:30 PM – 5:30 PM, with many supplies available for crafting.
On Friday, December 12 from 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM the Bryant Branch will have a special visitor! Say hi to Blue Dog and take photos during a meet and greet. All ages are welcome to enjoy holiday festivities including a snow globe jump house, games, and crafts.
Youth Services Librarian, Ms. Jordan, hosts a storytime on Thursday, December 18 at 10:30 AM featuring a scavenger hunt to find the Gingerbread Man and sweet treats for all visitors. This storytime, at the Benton branch is best suited for ages 3 – 5 years old.
Children under five years old are invited to celebrate the incoming new year at the library early at 12:00 PM noon on Wednesday, December 31 instead of midnight. The Benton branch will have a special storytime featuring librarian’s favorite books of 2025, songs, dancing, and a countdown to 12:00 PM noon. Festivities will begin at 11:30 AM.
The Saline County Library has been serving the residents of Saline County since 1931 and has three locations: Benton, Bryant, and East End. Each location provides wireless access computing as well as desktop computers for guest use and several other non-traditional items such as video games, cake pans, small tools, and more.
